Meeting of the City Council was held at 7:00 o’clock P.M.

Present,-President Hart, Councillors Hall, Hetel, Swartz, Daly O’Brien, Scatamacchia, Macek, Ryan and Curtin

Records of the last meeting were approved.

Councillor Hetel was appointed to read the records for the present week.

Communication was received from Mayor Fiorentini submitting memorandum and lease agreement for the MVRTA Transit Station in Washington Square. On motion of Councillor Ryan to refer document to Natural Resources & Public Buildings Committee, the yeas and nays were as follows:

Notice was received from Mayor Fiorentini of the appointment of Veronica Champagne to the Brownfield’s Steering Committee. Said appointment effective March 17 2006 to March 31 2007.

NEW BUSINESS

Councillor Hetel introduced Document 37-B To Wit: ORDERED: That a portion of the municipal parking lot located on Locke st, Assessor’s Map 304, Block 60, Lot 2-2, be and is hereby declared surplus, by the City of Haverhill and that the Mayor is authorized to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the lease of parking spaces and enter into negotiations with qualified respondents to the RFP.

On motion of Councillor Macek to table, the yeas and nays were as follows:

Yeas,-Councillors Hall, Hetel, Macek and Ryan 4, Nays,-Councillors Swartz, Daly O’Brien, catamacchia, Curtin and President Hart 5, and NOT PASSED

On the question of passage, the yeas and nays were as follows:

Councillor Swartz introduced Document 43 To Wit: ORDERED: That the City Council accepts the provisions of Section 1 of Chapter 157 of Acts of 2005, an Act Relative to Disability Retirement Benefits for Veterans Payment of $15.00 for each year of creditable service, up to maximum of $300.00 per year added to their retirement allowance.

Councillor Daly O’Brien introduced Document 43-B To Wit: ORDERED: That the City Council accepts the provisions of Section 2 of Chapter 157 of Acts of 2005, an Act Relative to Disability Retirement Benefits For Veterans – Retroactive Veteran Benefits.
