Meeting of the City Council was held at 7:00 o’clock P.M., Room 202.

Present,-President Hart, Councillors Scatamacchia, Ryan,Young, Hall, LePage, Daly O’Brien, Amirian and Macek.

1. Approval of Records of the Previous Meeting

Records were approved.

2. Assignment of the minutes review for the next Meeting

Councillor Ryan was appointed to read the records for the present week.

3. Communications from the Mayor

3.1 Hunking School

    3.1.1 Communication from Mayor Fiorentini submitting an Order authorizing Superintendent of Schools and Mayor to submit a Statement of Interest to Mass School Building Authority requesting state funding for a new Hunking School and also submitting a related Resolution. The Mayor and Superintendent gave a presentation about the status of the Hunking School. PLACED ON FILE 9-J

    3.1.2 Related communication from James F Scully, Superintendent of Schools requesting to address Council regarding Statement of Interest for construction of new school in Bradford PLACED ON FILE 9-jj*

    ORDERED: The Mayor and Superintendent of Schools are hereby authorized to submit to the Massachusetts School Building Authority the statement of interest concerning the Caleb Dustin Hunking Middle School located at 100 Winchester Street in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

On the question of passage the yeas and nays were as follows:
Yeas,-Councillor Scatamacchia, Young, Hall, LePage, Daly O’Brien, Amirian, Macek and President Hart 8, Nays,-Councillor Ryan 1, and PASSED 109

    3.1.3 Resolution– Relating to State Funding for a new Hunking School

    RESOLVED: That having convened in an open meeting on December 1, 2011, the Haverhill School Committee of the City of Haverhill, and on December 6, 2011 the Haverhill City Council, in accordance with its charter, bylaws and ordinances, has voted to authorize the Superintendent of Schools to submit to the Massachusetts School Building Authority the Statement of Interest Form dated November 30, 2011 for the Caleb Dustin Hunking Middle School located at 100 Winchester St. in Haverhill Massachusetts, which describes and explains the following deficiencies in the priority categories for which an application may be submitted to the Massachusetts School Building Authority in the future for replacement of the building which is structurally unsound or otherwise in the condition seriously jeopardizing the health and safety of school children, where no alternative exists; and hereby specifically acknowledges that by submitting the Statement of Interest Form, the Massachusetts School Building Authority in no way guarantees the acceptance or the approval of an application, the awarding of a grant or other funding commitment from the Massachusetts Schools Building Authority, or commits the City to filing an application for funding with the Massachusetts School Building Authority.

    A copy of the Statement of Interest Form is attached hereto and incorporated herein. (see document for complete text) December 6, 2011
