We are a part of the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, humanities, and sciences annually.
As volunteers, we are trained by our State agency, MA Cultural Council, that allocates a portion of their annual budget to us to administer through our local grant programs. In addition we abide by municipal regulations and, for example, hold monthly public meetings on the third Wednesday of the month when we are in session.
Our Mayoral appointed membership serve terms of three years and no more than six consecutive years without a year's hiatus.

We are always seeking qualified Haverhill residents who want to "make some noise" in our community. You can help realize a better city by using the arts and culture as the catalysts.
Whether you donate your time or money, you will see first-hand an immediate return on your investment. To make a donation, please use Unibank or pay pal. I hope you will become a creative stakeholder with us, as we systematically improve our collective quality of life and make Haverhill a destination city like Lowell and Newburyport.
If you'd like to become a member, please email us and tell us about your cultural background, your ideas for change, and what skills you bring to the table. (Fundraising and event planning are especially useful.) We review candidates monthly, schedule a chat with you, and make recommendations to the Mayor regularly. We hope to see you at our big table!

Our primary task is to promote the arts and culture in Haverhill by disbursing State funds through our local grant programs. We advocate the use of arts and culture to drive economic revitalization, also called the Creative Economy.
We support individuals, groups, schools, and organizations with the promotion of their programs and by offering free workshops to increase their operational skills.
This year we were honored to received an MCC grant to implement "Make Some Noise," a 16-wk performance series in our downtown public places, July through October every Friday evening.
We meet monthly at our office in Citizens' Center, 10 Welcome St. Click here for the dates and times of our meetings.
FY12 application deadline: Oct 15, 2011.
The application process is quite competitive. Because of the large number of requests and the limited funds available for regranting, we must be especially vigilant during our reviews.
We typically receive funding requests for nearly 400% more than what the State allots us. The average State award is between $200 - $500. Haverhill's average is $658.
Applicants should be prepared for the possibility of not receiving full funding and plan on securing additional financial resources. Documenting other resources in your application budget will help you compete more successfully.
In addition to the State's criteria for eligibility, we have specific funding priorities that allow us to respond to the changing needs of our community. There are two types of grants. The LCC grant funds projects. The PASS program funds K-12 field trips to cultural venues.
