December 4, 2006 Meeting of the License Commission was held at 7:00 PM In Room 202, City Council Chambers, City Hall. Present: Chairman Edwards and Commissioner Hanson On the motion of Chairman Edwards and seconded by Commissioner Hanson the minutes for the November meeting were accepted and they were unanimously approved. Application was received for a Change of Manager from Crystal Springs Golf Inc. located at 940 North Broadway. George Gelt to Edward Tompkins. Mr. Tompkins appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Hanson and seconded by Chairman Edwards the application was unanimously approved. APPROVED Application was received for a Change of Manager from Olympia Social Club located at 59 Orchard Street. Stelianos Zervoglou to George Vlahakis. Mr. Siodis appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Hanson and seconded by Chairman Edwards, the application was unanimously approved. APPROVED Application was received for a transfer of a Common Victuallers License from Leaf & Ladle located at 15 Washington Street. Marilyn Meek to Dennis Salois. Mr. Salois appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Hanson and seconded by Chairman Edwards, the application was unanimously approved. APPROVED Application was received for a Common Victuallers License from Trufel Restaurant II located at 125 River Street. Charlie Trufel Applicant. Mr. Trufel appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Hanson and seconded by Chairman Edwards, the application was unanimously approved. APPROVED Application was received for a transfer of a Car Dealer License from Kurd’s Auto Sales located at 69 White Street. Robert Kady to Guhdar Salih. Mr. Salih appeared in appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Hanson and seconded by Chairman Edwards, the application was unanimously approved. APPROVED Application was received for an Alter of Premises from Haverhill Golf & Country Club located at 58 Brickett Lane. Shae Baddour, Applicant. Mr. Baddour appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Hanson and seconded by Chairman Edwards, the application was unanimously approved. APPROVED Application was received for a Transfer of Stock from the Lasting Room located at 122 Washington Street. Paul F. Bresnahan to Richard L. Willet. Mr. Williet appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Hanson and seconded by Chairman Edwards, the application was unanimously approved. APPROVED Application was received for a Transfer of Wine and Malt License from Radio Market located at 61-63 Locke Street. Kevin Flaherty to Robert J. Diffin. Mr. Diffin appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Hanson and seconded by Chairman Edwards, the application was unanimously approved. APPROVED Application was received for a new All Alcohol Club License from Winter Street Sports Club LLC. Located at 157 Winter Street. Leona Maillet, Applicant. Ms. Maillet appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Hanson and seconded by Chairman Edwards, the application was unanimously approved. APPROVED Item for Discussion: Tony Polizzotti, requested an Increase of spaces on 194 River Street. Mr. Polizzotti wants to increase the spaces from 10 to 18 spaces. Chairman Edwards said that as long as the building inspector approves the request he would not have an issue with it. On the motion of Commissioner Hanson and seconded by Chairman Edwards the request was unanimously approved subject to the building inspector approving the request. APPROVED Show Cause Hearing for Brothers Auto located a 70 White Street. No one appeared in favor. Chairman Edwards has received complaints on the establishment, therefore the license will be revoked. The proper offices will be notified of the decision. LICENSE REVOKED Continued Show Cause Hearing for Maria’s Family Restaurant located at 8-10 Locust Street. on the violation of serving alcoholic beverages to a minor, serving alcohol after 2:00 a. m. and failure to cooperate with the Haverhill Police Department (Chapter 138 section: 63-63A). Attorney Collela appeared on behalf of the establishment. The Haverhill Police Department did not attend, they did not have anything further to add. Attorney Collela said this was an unfortunate event and he feels the owners of the establishment had no fault in the incident. Chairman Edwards recommended that the restaurant remain open normal food hours and the hours to sell alcohol be curtailed to 11:00 p.m. from December 24 th through December 28 th 2006.
