City of Haverhill, April 7, 2008 Meeting of the License Commission was held at 7:00 PM
In Room 202, City Council Chambers, City Hall.

Present:

  • Chairman Edwards
  • Commissioner Sullivan
  • Commissioner Hanson

On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Chairman Edwards the minutes for the March meeting were accepted and they were unanimously approved.

Application was received for approval of a One Day Wines and Malt License from Butlers and Bars, a wedding will take place at Winnekenni Castle on May 17, 2008. From 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Lillian Uhlig, applicant. Ms. Deborah Ingalls appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Hanson and seconded by Commissioner Sullivan, the application was unanimously approved.
APPROVED

Application was received for approval of a One Day All Alcohol License from Butlers and Bars, a wedding will take place at Winnekenni Castle on June 14, 2008. From 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Linda Steeves/Robert Palmer, applicants. Ms. Deborah Ingalls appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Commissioner Hanson, the application was unanimously approved.

Application was received for approval of a One Day All Alcohol License from Butlers and Bars, a wedding will take place at Winnekenni Castle on July 12, 2008. From 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Gail Rowinski applicant. Ms. Deborah Ingalls appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Hanson and seconded by Commissioner Sullivan, the application was unanimously approved.
APPROVED

Application was received for approval of a One Day Wines and Malt License from H-Puck, Inc. Charity Hockey Challenge, the event will take place at the Valley forum on June 6 – 8 2008. Peter Issenberg, applicant. On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Commissioner Hanson, the application was unanimously approved.

Application was received for approval of a Class II Car Dealer’s License from auctions only, located at 15 Christian Circle. Efosa Aguebor, applicant. Mr. Aguebor appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Commissioner Hanson, the application was unanimously approved.

Application was received for approval of All Alcohol Club License from Lorraine Post Bldg. Assoc., Inc. d/b/a VFW located at 64 Kenoza Ave. Lyman M. Biggart, applicant. Mr. Biggart appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Hanson and seconded by Commissioner Sullivan, the application was unanimously approved.

Show Cause Hearing: Cheerleaders for over serving on January 26 2008. Officer Landry appeared on behalf of the Haverhill Police Department he read the police report and offered testimony of the events that took place that evening. Mr. Murphy and attorney Gleason appeared on behalf of the establishment to offer testimony of the events that took place on that evening. Attorney Gleason said that the individual was not served at the establishment she came in the last hour, and no one served her. Mr. Murphy said that someone from his staff called the Police Department, when they notice this individual acting out. Chairman Edwards said there was no evidence that this individual was over served at this establishment. The Commission suggested that they be more careful with the people that come late, because they are most likely coming from other establishments. On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Commissioner Hanson there was no action taken on this matter.
NO ACTION TAKEN

Item for Discussion: Trattoria Al Forno on extending the hours of operation. Mr. Allen appeared before the Commissioner, to request that the hours of this establishment be the same as all of the other establishments in Haverhill. The Commission will allow Mr. Allen to open his establishment until 1:00 a.m. seven days a week. This is on a trial basis until June 2, 008.

Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM. The next meeting will be held on May 5, 2008.
