Meeting of the License Commission was held at 7:00 PM In Room 202, City Council Chambers, City Hall.

Present: Chairman Edwards, Commissioner Sullivan and Commissioner Hanson

On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Chairman Edwards the minutes for the July meeting were accepted and they were unanimously approved.

Application was received for pre approval of a  One Day Wines and Malt License from Butler & Bars, the Chowderfest event will take place at Winnekenni Castle on August 10, 2008 from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Grace Marcoux, applicant. Ms. Deborah Ingalls appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition.  On the motion of Commissioner Hanson and seconded by Commissioner Sullivan, the application was unanimously approved.
APPROVED

Application was received for pre approval of a One Day Wines and Malt License from Butlers & Basrs, a Wine and Cheese reception will take place at the Winnekenni Castle on August 21, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Grace Marcoux, applicant. Ms. Deborah Ingalls appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Hanson and seconded by Commissioner Sullivan, the application was unanimously approved.
APPROVED

Application was received for pre approval of a One Day All Alcohol License from Butlers and Bars, a wedding will take place at Winnekenni Castle on August 30, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Tarik McFarland and Vanessa Williams, applicants. Ms. Deborah Ingalls appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Hanson seconded by Commissioner Sullivan, the application was unanimously approved.
APPROVED

Application was received for approval on  a transfer of an Entertainment License from Welfare Records located at 58 River Street. Michael Schneider to Joshua Hynes. Both parties appeared in favor, and Sgt. Pistone of the Haverhill Police Department appeared before the Commission to express his concerns about the establishment. He said the location is just not right for that type of   business, and he is concern about the residents of the area. The Commissioners also have the same concerns. They will approve the transfer of license with a probationary period. A month to month a review of the business will be performed. The Commission wants Mr. Hynes to follow all the steps and recommendations given to him by Sgt. Pistone, and if there are any incidents he needs to contact the Police Department.
APPROVED WITH CONDITIONS

Application was received for approval of an Entertainment License from Starbucks Coffee Co. located at 112 Main Street. James Downey, applicant. Mr. Downey appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Commissioner Hanson, the application was unanimously approved.
APPROVED

Application was received for approval of a transfer of a Package Store Licenser from DJM Enterprises Inc. d/b/a Broadway Variety & Deli to Iftama 3 Inc. d/b/a Broadway Variety & Deli. Essam Ali, applicant. Mr. Ali appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Commissioner Hanson, the application was unanimously approved.
APPROVED

Application was received for approval of a Class II Car Dealers License for auctions only from Joy Hill Motors located at 1 Water Street. Basil Nwaoz, applicant. Mr. Nwaoz appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Commissioner Hanson, the application was unanimously approved.
APPROVED

Item for Discussion: Chief DeNaro’s request for approval of the designation of agents. The Commissioners are in full support to the request.

Adjournment:  The meeting adjourned at 7:40 PM.  The next meeting will be held on September 8, 2008.
