City of Haverhill, June 2, 2008 Meeting of the License Commission was held at 7:00 PM In Room 202, City Council Chambers, City Hall.

Present:

  • Chairman Edwards
  • Commissioner Sullivan

On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Chairman Edwards the minutes for the May meeting were accepted and they were unanimously approved.

Application was received for approval of a One Day Wines and Malt License from The Crescent Yacht Club located at 30 Ferry Street. The Lou Marcel Memorial Canoe Race will take place on June 7, 2008. From 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Jeffrey LeBlanc, applicant. Mr. LeBlanc appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Chairman Edwards, the application was unanimously approved.

Application was received for approval of a One Day All Alcohol License from The Jimmy Fund Fundraiser, The annual Clambake event will take place at the American Legion Farm Post #4 on June 14, 2008. From 12 noon – 8:00 p.m. John Kazarosian, applicant. Mr. Kazarosian appeared in favor and no one appeared opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Chairman Edwards, the application was unanimously approved.

Application was received for approval of a One Day All Alcohol License from Lucent Technologies Retirees, the annual Lucent Construction Retirees Outing will take place at the American Legion. June 14, 2008. From 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. John Kazarosian, applicant. Mr. Kazarosian appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Chairman Edwards, the application was unanimously approved.

Application was received for approval of a One Day All Alcohol License from The Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, the annual Greek Church Festival will take place at the American Legion Farm on June 8, 2008. From 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. John Kazarosian, applicant. Mr. Kazarosian appeared in favor and no one appeared opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Chairman Edwards, the application was unanimously approved.

Application was received for approval of a Class II Car Dealers License for auctions only from Emilio’s Auto Sales, located at 566 Washington Street. Ramon Santos applicant. Mr. Santos appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Chairman Edwards, the application was unanimously approved.
APPROVED

Application was received for approval of a Class II Car Dealers License for auctions only from Viti Auto Sales, located at 45 13th Avenue. Jonathan F. Viti , applicant. Mr. Viti appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. On the motion of Commissioner Sullivan and seconded by Chairman Edwards, the application was unanimously approved.
APPROVED

Application was received for approval of a new All Alcohol Club License from Bernard J. Goulet d/b/a Apollo Club, located at 157 Winter Street. Bernard J. Goulet, applicant. Attorney Early and Mr. Goulet appeared in favor and no one appeared in opposition. The application was not complete, therefore Chairman Edwards suggested they come back next month.
NO ACTION TAKEN

Item for Discussion: Chief of Police Alan DeNaro would like the License Commission to support him and his sworn members of the Police Department in conducting inspections and investigations permitted by various provisions of Ch. 138. The License Commission has agreed to review the information provided by the Chief, and will get back to him with a response.

Item for Discussion: Trattoria Al Forno on extending the hours of operation. Mr. Allen appeared before the Commissioner, to request that the hours of this establishment be the same as all of the other establishments in Haverhill. The Commission wants the hours to remain the same for one more month. Mr. Allen may open his establishment until 1:00 a.m. seven days a week.

Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 7:35PM. The next meeting will be held on July 7, 2008.
